Dogra troops, the Indian Army, and Hindu extremists murdered hundreds of thousands of Muslims who were trying to flee to Pakistan in early November 1947. The goal of this massacre, which is regarded as one of the first significant instances of ethnic cleansing following World War II, was to eradicate the Muslim population in the Jammu area in order to change the demographics of Jammu and Kashmir.
To honour the Jammu martyrs, a number of events are planned in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, including seminars, special prayer services, and anti-India protests. The day started with prayers in mosques throughout AJK, asking for the prosperity of both Pakistan and AJK as well as the early freedom of illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir by India. To commemorate the sacrifices made by the Kashmiri people, social, political, and religious organisations are hosting Quran Khawani sessions and assemblies. Hindu radicals, the Indian Army, and Dogra troops slaughtered hundreds of thousands of Muslims.
