The government maintained its position that the legislation was not implemented for any one person while defending the passage of six amendment bills in the parliament, including one that increased the number of judges in the high and apex courts and one that extended the fixed tenure of services chiefs to five years.
Attaullah Tarar, the federal minister of information, stated that the changes were not made abruptly since the Pakistan People’s Party was also taken into consideration and consultations were still going on.
He stated on Tuesday that “the opposition was not ready to discuss the legislation.”
Following the adoption of the six legislation that had been adopted by the National Assembly and the Senate the day before, Tarar made his comments.
