According to media reports, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has draughted a letter asking the US president to pardon and free Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.
“I met you in America and in my hometown of Lahore,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wrote in a letter to US President Joe Biden requesting the release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui. You have always been a friend of Pakistan and its citizens, in my opinion.
“I would like to bring your attention to a significant issue that should be viewed with compassion,” Shehbaz Sharif stated, recalling your part in the Congressional approval of the Kerry-Lugar-Berman Bill fifteen years prior. He stated that since September 2010, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui has been detained at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Carswell.
