Pakistan expressed its solidarity with the people of Bangladesh on Wednesday, praying for peace and normalcy in their current condition of things, as the country witnessed a historic revolt that has overthrown more than 10 years of Sheikh Hasina’s administration.
“The Government and people of Pakistan stand in solidarity with the people of Bangladesh, sincerely hoping for a peaceful and swift return to normalcy,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement.
The FO went on to say that Pakistan is optimistic about the “harmonious future” for Bangladeshi people because of their “resilient spirit and unity.”
Following student-led protests over government hiring practices in July, anti-government rallies in Bangladesh came to an end on Monday when “autocratic” prime minister Hasina fled to India.
