The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Tuesday that former Pakistan Army officer Lieutenant Colonel Akbar Hussain had been found guilty of “inciting sedition”.
The statement also stated that the former army commander was found guilty of inciting sedition among army soldiers while performing his duty by a Field General Court Martial (FGCM) in accordance with the Pakistan Army Act, 1952.
On May 10, the court of competent jurisdiction found him “guilty” of the offence charged after following the proper legal procedures. The punishment was imposed: 14 years of hard labour in jail.
As a result of the penalty that was given, the officer’s rank was forfeited on July 26, 2024.
