CM Maryam approves agriculture tube well solarisation project

Maryam Nawaz, the chief minister of Punjab, has approved the farm tube well solarisation project.

Farmers who possess 25 acres of agricultural land are eligible to participate in the solarisation initiative.

Farmers only need to pay 33 percent of the project’s total cost—the government will cover the remaining 67 percent. This is part of the agriculture tubewell solarisation initiative.

Approximately seven thousand tube wells would be converted to solar energy in the first phase, it was reported during the briefing.

In the second phase, around 10,000 tube wells will be converted to solar energy with federal government assistance.

An acre of a tube well requires about three thousand rupees of diesel to operate, whereas an acre requires fifteen hundred rupees of electricity.
