CPPA seeks Rs 2.63 per unit increase in tariff

Under the monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA) mechanism, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA-G) has requested a 2.63 per unit increase in the power rate for June.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) received a petition from XWAPDA power distribution companies (DISCOs) stating that the actual cost of energy for the month of June was Rs 9.77 per unit, whereas reference fuel charges were Rs 7.14 per unit. The CPPA-G upheld this finding.

During the specified period, 13,459 GWh of electricity valued at Rs 119,704 million were generated, and DISCOs received 13,071 GWh of electricity valued at Rs 127,712 million.

The percentage of hydel generation was 35.19 percent, local coal was 11%, imported coal was 4.74%, and furnace oil was 0%.
