The floor mills association’s strike has been called off by the efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The floor mills association’s announcement to end the strike was warmly received by the chief minister. The chief minister stated, “The floor mills association will not hold any strike against the imposition of withholding tax in Punjab.”
In talks, the floor mills association’s leadership was persuaded to end their protest at the behest of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The chief minister expressed gratitude to the association’s head and other leaders for reaching a consensus decision to forgo a strike in Punjab. CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif voiced her concerns about the possibility of a grain shortage and rising bread prices for the general public.
