Izzat al-Risheq, a member of Hamas’s political office, disputes allegations that the organisation has withdrawn from ceasefire negotiations.
In a statement, al-Risheq claimed, “There is no truth to what was reported by the media about the movement stopping negotiations.”
The remarks followed an anonymous “senior Hamas official” purportedly informing AFP that Israel’s “stalling” and continuous “massacres” of civilians in Gaza are the reasons the party is pulling out of peace negotiations.
It was claimed by Israeli television Kan that meetings are still scheduled for this week in Doha, Qatar, citing a “diplomat familiar with the talks”.
According to the Israeli prime minister, all Hamas leaders would be killed “one way or another” by his forces, according to Al Jazeera.
He also reiterated his support for President Biden’s plan to put a stop to the hostilities in Gaza.
