The federal government has authorised the army’s nationwide deployment to maintain security during Muharram.
According to a statement, the federal government has given the go-ahead for the Pakistan Army and civilian armed forces to be stationed in the provinces of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and Islamabad.
The notification states that pertinent authorities would be consulted for specifics regarding army deployment. There is no time limit on the use of the army and civilian armed forces.
At the provinces’ request, the army will be sent in as a swift reaction force. The locations and quantities of army troop deployments will be determined by the provinces.
The army, rangers, and FC members were already authorised for deployment by the Sindh government.
