Attaullah Tarar, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, has refuted the rumour that lawmakers are receiving 500 billion rupees in the guise of development projects.
This evening, he was speaking at a press conference in Islamabad.
In response to assertions and charges made by former finance minister Miftah Ismail and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Attaullah Tarar stated that the Public Sector Development Programme has a total budget of 1,500 billion rupees and made it plain that the government has no plans to give 500 billion rupees to members of the national and provincial assemblies. He said that they had used false information to quote a wildly inflated figure.
The Minister went on to say that the administration is working on a plan to introduce measures that will reduce spending.
