SC hears SIC plea on reserved seats

The Sunni Ittehad Council’s appeal, which challenges the denial of reserved seats in the national and provincial parliament, is currently being heard by the Supreme Court.

The hearings are being conducted today by a full court bench. Justices Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Muneeb Akhtar, Yahya Afridi, Aminuddin Khan, Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Ayesha A. Malik, Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Syed Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Shahid Waheed, Justice Irfan Saadat Khan, and Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan are among the other judges sitting on the bench.

Attorney Sikandar Bashir is making his case before the 13-member whole court on behalf of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Farooq H. Naek, a lawyer for the Pakistan Peoples Party, will also present his case.
