Pakistan ‘not to seek US support’ for Operation Azm-e-Istehkam

Pakistan will not ask for US assistance in carrying out Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, which was started to eradicate the threat of militancy from the nation, according to Defence Minister Khawaja Asif.
He stated that Pakistan had seen a notable increase in terrorist occurrences and that the decision to begin a fresh operation was not made hastily in an interview with a US media source.
Last Saturday, the Central Apex Committee on the National Action Plan (NAP) authorised “Operation Azm-e-Istehkam,” a revitalised national counterterrorism initiative aimed at eradicating terrorism from the nation.
The Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), two opposition parties, demanded that parliament be given the benefit of the doubt regarding the military action.
