US Congress resolution neither welcome nor acceptable: FO spox

Resolution 901, which was passed by the US House of Representatives, was described by Pakistan on Friday as “unsolicited interference” in its internal affairs that was “neither welcome nor acceptable.”

Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the spokesperson for the Foreign Office, stated to the media during her weekly press briefing that the resolution was obviously the result of a poor and incorrect comprehension of Pakistan’s political and electoral system.

Additionally, it is an unwelcome meddling in internal affairs of Pakistan. Mutual respect and sovereign equality, in our opinion, should be the cornerstones of bilateral ties between nations. Therefore, it is not welcome nor acceptable that the US Congress is interfering without permission,” she said.

Additionally, the spokesperson stated that the resolution’s timing and context did not support the current upward trajectory of bilateral ties.
