According to Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the goal of the upcoming fiscal year’s budget is to lower the fiscal deficit by emphasising initiatives that increase government revenue and cut back on wasteful spending.
He concluded today’s National Assembly budget discussion by stating that, in accordance with the Prime Minister’s directives, the fiscal year 2024–25 would see the continuation of the policy of austerity and simplification.
He announced the formation of a commission under his direction, whose recommendations would include shutting down the ministries or merging them and giving more authority to the provinces.
The Finance Minister declared that future pension reforms will lower the costs associated with pensions.
He stated that the upcoming budget is built around a programme of domestic changes.
