Defence Minister Khawaja Asif disclosed on Monday that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) issues were resolved and that only a brief summary of the situation was provided to them by former army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and former director general of interservices intelligence Faiz Hamid.
Asif told News that “they [former generals] painted a picture as if all was good in Swat.”
Politicians, particularly Ali Wazir and Mohsin Dawar, had asked questions during the pertinent briefing, according to the minister of defence, but they were not given much opportunity to speak.
The minister’s comments follow the federal government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s announcement to initiate a new anti-terror operation nationwide called “Azm-e-Istehkam” in response to an uptick in terror occurrences in recent months.
