Senator Faisal Sabzwari, the parliamentarian leader of the Mutahidda Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQMP) in the upper house, recommended the government on Monday to raise the salaried class’s taxable income cap in order to potentially reduce the tax burden.
During the budget debate, the senator stated that while everyone involved is aware of the challenges facing the nation, the current tax structure is insufficient to help people escape the economic trap.
According to him, if taxes are made less onerous for them, people will pay them willingly; in the interim, there may be places where there are no taxes.
Senator argued that farmers should receive a general exemption, noting that indirect taxes are more brutal and frequent. Pakistanis pay more in taxes than they are able to.
