On Friday, members of the National Assembly asked the government to prioritise policies that benefit people and give the IT and agriculture industries more support.
Muhammad Farooq Sattar, the head of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan), described the 2024–25 budget as traditional, referring to a continuation of policies from the previous 77 years, during the budget debate.
“The country’s current debt servicing issues, noting that most budget allocations are used for this purpose,” he said.
He continued, “It is the government’s responsibility to prepare the budget with the public’s issues in mind.”
He continued, “Unfortunately, every budget seems to favour the wealthy.”
Sattar berated the government for taxing salaried people more heavily and asked it to concentrate on the agriculture industry.
