Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, the chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC), emphasised on Sunday the significance of upholding the purity of the Hajj as a strictly religious obligation and advised pilgrims to abstain from political and sectarian activities while travelling to Saudi Arabia.
He explicitly cautioned pilgrims in a television interview not to bring political flags, banners, or photos, and to stay away from political events and group discussions.
Ashrafi underlined that following Saudi laws and regulations was essential to a polite and successful pilgrimage.
He highlighted the size of this year’s Hajj, stating that an additional 90,000 private pilgrims were anticipated in addition to the 68,000 government-sponsored travellers. He said that by June 12, all Hajj-related activities would be finished.
