IHC annuls Imran Khan, Qureshi’s conviction in cipher case • — Imran, Qureshi were sentenced to 10 years in cipher case

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) cleared PTI founder Imran Khan and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cypher case on Monday, providing significant relief.
After allowing the pleas of the former prime minister and diplomat against their convictions in the case, IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb issued the brief verdict.
Given that Imran was sentenced in the Iddat case and Qureshi was just arrested in connection with May 9 crimes, it is unlikely that the two would be released from prison.
Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain appointed a state attorney for Imran and Qureshi in January, following which a special court created under the Official Secrets Act sentenced both to ten years in prison.
