To maintain peace in the Middle East, a delegation of UN experts has urged all nations to recognise the state of Palestine.
Less than a week had passed since Spain, Ireland, and Norway formally recognised the state of Palestine, which infuriated Israel—which has been progressively more isolated during an over eight-month-long military war in Gaza.
The UN Special Rapporteur on the status of human rights in the Palestinian territories is among the experts who believe that the establishment of a Palestinian state is a significant affirmation of the rights of the Palestinian people and their struggle for freedom and independence.
“Starting with the immediate declaration of a ceasefire in Gaza and no further military incursions into Rafah, this is a pre-condition for lasting peace in Palestine and the entire Middle East,” they stated.
