Court acquits Imran in two May 9 cases

Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), was cleared on Thursday in two instances pertaining to the May 9 riots by an Islamabad district and sessions court.
Judicial Magistrate Umar Shabbir granted approval to the petition contesting the two complaints against the PTI founder filed at the Shehzad Town police station.
The district and sessions court’s decision stated, “The PTI founder has been acquitted because of insufficient evidence presented by the prosecution.”
On May 15, Khan was found not guilty in two incidents involving mischief on May 9.
Judicial Magistrate Sahib Bilal, who accepted the former prime minister’s appeal contesting the cases, issued the acquittal orders. The Khanna Police Station in Islamabad received both of the cases brought against Khan.
