On Friday, Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), was requested by Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah’s advisor on political and public affairs to attend to the “negotiation table” if he adhered to democracy and the rule of law.
Speaking to the media, he said that any attempt to incite unrest in order to cause chaos and anarchy would be met with resistance. He also stated that the government would not allow anyone to violate the bounds of democratic freedom or enable the abuse of democratic rights to undermine the nation’s peaceful atmosphere.
In parliament, he called on all political parties—including the JUI-F party—to contribute positively to democracy.
Once more, he extended an invitation to opposition parties for “unconditional talks” with the government.
