PM condemns attack on Slovak PM

Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, strongly denounced the “shocking” attack on Robert Fico, his colleague from Slovakia, on Thursday.

“We vehemently denounce the horrifying assault on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, and our prayers are with him and his family. Hoping for a speedy recuperation and excellent well-being,” the prime minister posted on his X timeline.

The media is reporting that Robert Fico was shot several times during an attempted assassination and suffered serious injuries. He was shot five times on Wednesday by an assailant, and he had emergency surgery for several hours.

The prime minister said, “We stand by the government and people of the Slovak Republic in these critical moments.”
Robert Fico, the prime minister of Slovakia, is no longer in “life-threatening condition” as his health has stabilised.
