Chairman of the People’s Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has stated that we must draw lessons from historical catastrophes such as May 12 [2007].
In his speech on the 17th anniversary of the disaster, Bilawal welcomed Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, the chief justice, and paid respects to the PPP workers and other parties that lost their lives in Karachi.
“May 12 reminds us of the consequences of politics of violence,” stated the PPP chief. Those who commit such crimes are held accountable by history. Future generations can learn a lesson from such tragedies as well.
“We must never forget the martyrs’ unwavering devotion and their ceaseless efforts to uphold democracy.”
He called on all political players to band together in order to advance peace and understanding.
