President Asif Ali Zardari expressed worry about “baseless and unsubstantiated allegations levelled by a specific political party and its few individuals” against the army for their political purposes during a meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Asim Munir on Wednesday.
According to an official release, the development occurred when COAS Munir met President Zardari at the Presidency.
The army chief congratulated Zardari on his appointment as president, according to the statement. Additionally, he sent the president his warmest wishes for a fruitful term in office.
“The COAS briefed the president on the army’s current counterterrorism operations and emphasised the readiness for conventional threats during the meeting.”The COAS also mentioned the army’s support to development programmes.
