IHC suspends Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi’s sentence in Toshakhana case

Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were sentenced to suspended prison terms in the Toshakhana case on Monday by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
The appeal against the conviction will be scheduled for hearing following the Eid holidays, according to IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq.

In the Toshakhana reference in January, Judge Muhammad Bashir of the Accountability Court imposed a severe 14-year prison sentence on Khan and Bushra.
In addition, the judge fined the former prime minister Rs1.57 billion, or Rs787 million per person, and disqualified him from office for ten years.
Khan had informed the court that his wife was being humiliated by being forced into the case and had nothing to do with it.
