The committee headed by former chief justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, who was assigned to look into accusations made by six judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), has been welcomed by the Punjab Bar Council (PBC).
Vice-Chairman of the PBC Kamran Bashir Mughal voiced hope that Justice Jillani will carry out an impartial, just, and free investigation into the situation.
He said that the suggestions made by Justice Jillani will improve the judiciary’s honour, independence, and openness.
Likewise, Justice Jillani’s selection to the panel has the complete backing of the High Court Bar Association Abbottabad (HCBA).
The HCBA is optimistic that the commission will carry out a comprehensive investigation and make suggestions to stop meddling in judicial matters.
The calls for IHC CJ and CJP to resign were declared illegal by HCBA.
