Senior attorneys and bar groups from Sindh, Lahore, Islamabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday called for an investigation into the letter that six judges of the Islamabad High Court wrote to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) alleging that espionage agencies were interfering with the legal system.
During an urgent meeting today, the Sindh High Court Bar Association went over the letter that the IHC judges had written.
The Supreme Court justices will be on the three-member judicial panel that the SHCBA has recommended be formed in order to look into the letter.
The Supreme Court Bar Association expressed worry about the “interference” and declared, “Interference in the affairs of the judiciary is tantamount to attacking the judicial system.”
The lawyer’s group also praised the IHC judges, calling their revelation of the intervention an admirable deed.
