As the nation prepares to hold polls for the general elections of 2024, at least four police officers were martyred in a terrorist attack in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Thursday, according to media reports. Three more police officers were injured, one of whom is critically injured, when the militants in the Kulachi Tehsil, according to the authorities, assaulted the police car with a grenade. As part of security preparations ahead of today’s federal elections, the Ministry of Interior in Pakistan “temporarily” banned cellular communications earlier in the morning. A spokesman for the interior ministry claimed that in the days leading up to the national elections, numerous terrorist attacks in the nation claimed innocent lives. In the meantime, an improvised explosive device (IED) injured two Levies employees.
