Murtaza Solangi, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, has stated that the mainstream media has to abide by the code of conduct that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has released for the next general elections. Speaking at a press information department-organized seminar today in Islamabad on “Electoral Code of Conduct: Ethical Practices of Stakeholders including Media,” he stated that the code of conduct is available in both Urdu and English. He apologised for the rumours that had been going around about the polls and confirmed that the federal government has always said that the elections will be held on February 8. According to him, everyone agrees that the nation will have a federal parliamentary democratic structure. Legislation, according to him, can be used to strengthen the legislative system.
