A second resolution, which requests a postponement of the general elections scheduled for February 8 due to inclement weather and security concerns, was sent to the Senate Secretariat on Sunday. Hilal-ur-Rehman, an independent senator from the former FATA, filed the third resolution in the Senate to postpone the nation’s elections, just two days after the same resolution was introduced in the parliament’s upper house. In the resolution, Senator Rehman said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s residents would find it impossible to cast ballots due to the region’s bitterly cold temperatures and heavy snowfall. He also emphasised the many difficulties faced by polling candidates in managing their campaigns for office. The resolution further stated that the candidates are concerned about terrorist incidents occurring in KP.
