The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) famous election emblem, the “bat,” was ordered to be restored by the Peshawar High Court (PHC), but Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa said on Friday that the decision was faulty on its face. Judge Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Musarat Hilali, and the chief justice made these statements at a hearing on the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) appeal against the PHC ruling that reinstated the PTI’s electoral symbol. The judges were part of a three-judge panel. Due to anomalies in their internal polls that violated the party’s own constitution and election laws, the electoral commission on December 22 prohibited the PTI party from using its “bat” emblem for the upcoming February elections. The PTI contested the ECP’s decision to remove their symbol in the PHC after it was made.
