ECP moves SC on PTI’s ‘Bat symbol’

The ruling of the Peshawar High Court (PHC), which nullified the  electoral body’s decision to deem PTI’s intra-party polls “unconstitutional” and remove the party’s recognisable  bat electoral symbol, was challenged by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the Supreme Court on Thursday. “It is necessary to declare the Peshawar High Court’s ruling  unlawful. In its appeal to the highest court, the ECP said that PTI had not  conducted intra-party elections in accordance with the Election Act. The petition was started when ECP convened a meeting to consider  the PHC ruling, according to sources. According to the sources, alternatives for appealing the PHC j udgement to the Supreme Court were discussed during the discussion.
