Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Shah Mahmood Qureshi, was arrested by Rawalpindi police on Wednesday from Adiala jail in relation to a case involving violent protests on May 9. After his bail in the cypher case was granted last week, Qureshi was arrested under the maintenance of public order (3-MPO) a day earlier. Speaking to the journalists outside the jail, Qureshi claimed that his arrest was the result of a false accusation. He continued, “I am being politically victimised despite my innocence.” “Injustice and oppression. The order from the Supreme Court is being mocked by this. “I am experiencing political victimisation without any justification,” he continued. Qureshi was connected to incidents involving the May 9 rioting that started after PTI founder Imran Khan was arrested.
