Death toll in Gaza, occupied West Bank nears 19,000

 Israel strikes large portion of the Gaza Strip, killing families in their homes, as Washington dispatched an envoy to urge its ally to increase safety  precautions against civilian losses in its conflict with Hamas militants. With no end in sight, the more than two-month-old battle is still raging and generating humanitarian crisis. In Rafah, densely populated area on the southern border of Gaza, people sobbed in mortuary next to bodies covered in bloody  shrouds. Locals grimly combed through the debris of the Ashour and Abu  Dhbaa families’ nearby homes, where 26 people, according to Gaza health officials, had perished. Since October 7, Israel has dropped 29,000 air-to-ground weapons on Gaza, of which up to 45% have been unguided “dumb bombs”.
