Active role of women, crucial: Solangi

Murtaza Solangi, the federal minister of information and broadcasting, stated on Monday that it was crucial for women to participate actively in the electoral process. “Women’s participation in elections” was the topic of policy discussion hosted by South Asia Partnership Pakistan. He stated that women make up half of the country’s population and that empowering them is sacred obligation. Murtaza Solangi mentioned Benazir Bhutto when she stated that Pakistan produced the first female prime minister in the history of the Muslim world. According to Solangi, eradicating gender inequality should begin at home, where daughters should enjoy the same privileges as sons. He believed that passing new legislation would not be sufficient to remove gender discrimination.
