On Friday, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the caretaker prime minister, urged the enforcement of meritocracy and social chances for the advancement and mainstreaming of minority communities, while also restating their equal rights. During a Q&A session with Aga Khan University students, the prime minister stated that minorities in Pakistan were treated equally because Madina State had provided equal rights and obligations for all of its people. He advocated for social chances for minorities and the enforcement of meritocracy, calling for instilling a sense of confidence in the populace. In response to a query, he stated that Pakistanis had the right to free speech and that, given the political background of the nation, any one occurrence could not be linked to the government of that specific period.
He asserted that instances of free speech infringement were not exclusive to any one regime. In response to a question from a university student regarding the arrest of journalists, the prime minister stated that during the period he was talking to, journalists were shot at and subjected to numerous other acts that violated their right to free speech. “You are free to speak and express yourself. In front of the prime minister, you shared your heart. Your claim that there is no freedom of speech would be less credible after this, he said. Regarding Gilgit Baltistan’s status and rights, he declared that it was and would always be a part of Pakistan. He asserted that the issue of rights ought to be resolved amicably and without hostility.
