In a report on food insecurity in the Gaza Strip, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) notes that households in northern Gaza are “experiencing alarming levels of hunger.” Nine out of ten Palestinians in northern Gaza go without food for a full day or night, and at least 97% of homes have “inadequate food consumption.” Thirty percent of the households in the southern governorates reported high levels of severe or very severe hunger, while fifty-three percent reported moderate hunger. 1,249 trucks delivering food supplies have arrived in Gaza since October 7. Approximately 500 trucks every day would enter the Gaza Strip prior to the war. According to WFP, 100 food-laden trucks would need to pass through Gaza in order to deliver food aid to the impacted people.
