The Finance Division gave the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Rs17.4 billion to set up the polls, one day after the ECP expressed worries over the lack of funding. The Finance Division stated in a statement on Tuesday that it had released Rs. 17.4 billion to the ECP, on top of the Rs. 10 billion that had been released in July 2023. With this, the entire money released for organising general elections is Rs27.4 billion. The Finance Division is still dedicated to providing cash to the Pakistani Election Commission when and when it is needed, it stated. Imdad Ullah Bosal, the finance secretary, gave the electoral watchdog assurances on Monday that money for the next general elections will be made available in a day or two.
