The Islamabad High Court (IHC) ruled on Tuesday that the notice from August 29 about PTI chief Imran Khan’s detention trial in “judicial lockup” in the cypher case was unlawful. While considering Imran’s intra-court appeal against the ruling of a one-member bench that had permitted the ex-premier’s jail trial in the cypher case, the court issued guidelines. It is important to remember that while the PTI chief’s sentence in the Toshakhana case was suspended by the IHC on August 29, jail officials were instructed to keep Imran in “judicial lockup” in the cypher case by a special court created under the Official Secrets Act. Imran’s intra-court appeal was deemed valid by the IHC division bench, which included Justices Saman Rafat Imtiaz and Mian¬gul Hassan Aurangzeb.
