In response to a serious pollution situation, interim Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi declared a four-day holiday in some divisions on Tuesday. CM Naqvi announced during a news conference that these holidays will take effect on Thursday, which is recognised as Iqbal Day, a national holiday, and would last until Sunday. He continued, “The goal of this action is to lessen the effects of the smog problem.” The chief executive of the province announced that November 9 is set aside as a national holiday and that Punjab’s offices and schools will be closed on November 10. Naqvi emphasised that although schools are already closed on Saturdays and Sundays, they will have to close this Saturday as well if they are open.
