SC rejects govt’s fact-finding committee on Faizabad sit-in

The Attorney-General for Pakistan, Mansoor Usman Awan, was directed by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to quickly establish fresh inquiry commission concerning the execution of the high court’s decision in the Faizabad sit-in case after the court rejected the government’s fact-finding committee on Wednesday. The government established the fact-finding committee on Friday with the goal of looking into the “role and directions” of all “concerned” officials in the handling and administration of the 2017 sit-in. Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa stated during the hearing that the supreme court was interested in learning who was responsible for the sit-in at Faizabad. He said, “We want to know who was the mastermind of the Faizabad sit-in,” lamenting the fact that the ruling, which was issued on February 6, 2019, has not been carried out.
