ECP to ensure transparent, credible elections: CEC

ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja gave assurances on Tuesday that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will make use of all resources at its disposal to ensure that elections are conducted peacefully and that fair elections will ensure the country’s democracy is strengthened. Speaking to the media, he added that the ECP will guarantee a conducive atmosphere for the holding of free and fair elections, preventing anyone from subsequently objecting to the results of the polls. He called on the populace to exercise patience and contribute appropriately to the cause of democracy by voting in the next elections. He said that the ECP has also extended an invitation to foreign observers to watch the next general election.
