ISLAMABAD: Pakistan called for an immediate end to the brutal blockade and bombardment of Gaza on Thursday, expressing dissatisfaction over the outcomes of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) emergency meeting on Wednesday. “The outcome of the UNSC debate depresses us as a nation. At her weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated, “The Security Council should play its designated role to bring an immediate end to the bombardment and blockade leading to a humanitarian catastrophe.” The spokesperson was making reference to the United States’ use of its veto power at the UN Security Council to thwart a resolution that demanded Israel to permit humanitarian corridors into the Gaza Strip.
