LAHORE: Former prime minister and president of the Pakistan  Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Shehbaz Sharif, gave noteworthy speech to merchants in this city on Thursday, emphasising the critical role that political and economic stability play in Pakistan’s development. He talked about the country’s progress towards prosperity and stability while bringing up significant historical moments. Shehbaz Sharif started off by highlighting how crucial stable economy is to Pakistan’s development. He emphasised that attaining political stability and economic stability are closely related, making both elements extremely important. Shehbaz Sharif noted that October 12 is an important date in Pakistan’s history. Martial law was imposed on this day in 1999, overthrowing the government of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the difficulties experienced, including as 20-hour power outages, while applauding Nawaz Sharif’s accomplishments during his third term in office. Important projects like the Orange Line train and the Lahore Metro were finished in spite of these obstacles. According to him, PTI’s legal challenges caused three-year delay in the latter project. He reflected on the period following the fall of Nawaz Sharif’s government in 2018 and the difficulties Pakistan suffered due to inflation, economic hardships, and darkness. He underlined that rescuing the state was their top concern, saying, “I took up the position of Prime Minister in coalition government, guided by the goal of saving the state, even if it meant sacrificing politics.” He claimed that Pakistan had experienced numerous difficulties during this time, including significant flood.
