SC law interfered in court’s independence: Justice Ahsan

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court’s Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan stated on Tuesday that the Supreme Court (Practise and Procedure) Act 2023 was an attempt to impede the supreme court’s independence. The highest court judge made the comment while hearing arguments against a SC bill that sought to limit the chief judge of the nation’s discretionary powers.

CJP Isa said during yesterday’s session that the law was passed by parliament with “good intentions.” The CJP had also made a suggestion that they might try to finish the session today.
