ISLAMABAD: To evaluate the continuing rehabilitation and reconstruction of the flood-affected areas in the nation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over the third meeting of the International Partners Support Group.To commemorate a year since Pakistan was devastated by severe floods that caused a great deal of damage, the Group met here on Tuesday. The Group was established following the Resilient Pakistan Conference in Geneva.The coalition government’s steadfast commitment to rebuilding better in accordance with the Resilient recovery, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (4RF) Framework was repeated in the prime minister’s speech during the meeting, the prime minister said on Wednesday.
“I appreciated all the international development donors, partners and friendly countries for their timely and generous assistance and assured them of transparent, effective and efficient utilization of foreign assistance duly audited by a third party of global repute,” he added. He also thanked the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) that had carried out excellent coordination and collaboration between the government of Pakistan and the international community.Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appreciated Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman, her team and other stakeholders for finalizing work on the Pakistan National Adaptation Plan.
“Climate change is redefining every human experience on the planet, especially Pakistan. In the long journey to build resilience, our government is proud to pass our country’s National Adaptation Plan, which will give Pakistan the essential tools to adapt to the risks of climate stress, he added. He said as the last year’s devastating floods showed, climate change was a development, economic, human, and national security issue critical to the future of the people.Moreover, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday visited the residence of former Mayor Rawalpindi and PMLN leader Sardar Naseem here to express condolences upon the demise of his mother. He prayed to Allah Almighty to elevate the ranks of the departed soul in paradise and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss with fortitude. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb was also present on the occasion.
