Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif compared the “violence on May 9″ by the PTI to that of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan while presiding over a meeting on the state of law and order in the nation today.

The PTI and TTP both set fire to Jinnah Houses, which are now the homes of the Core Commander in Lahore and Ziarat, respectively. The premier recalled that the Radio Pakistan office in Peshawar was also vandalized during the May 9 riots: “TTP attacked the GHQ [General Headquarters] and these enemies of the state… the PTI… also attacked the GHQ.” The nation will be psychologically impacted by these events for years to come.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that it was not a joke that terrorists attacked airforce installations in Karachi and then scores of “Imran’s people set fire to the plane in Mianwali” that was used against the enemy.

“I had requested the Punjab chief minister about the anti-terrorism courts, prosecutors, FIRs […] and I told the interior minister and DG IB to fulfill their responsibilities as well,” he said in regard to the May 9 riots trials.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated that people who attacked military installations during the May 9 protest will be tried under laws in the Constitution.

“On the other hand, people who were involved in attacks on civilian institutions will be tried under the Anti-Terrorism Act in civil courts,” he said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has asserted that the May 9 rioters won’t be allowed to “escape the law”.

“It has been decided that everyone involved in the May 9 events … the planners, abusers or anyone … will be punished as per the law and Constitution.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that May 9 will be remembered as a “Black Day”.

“It will be remembered as the day when terrorism was carried out against the state over the orders of Imran Niazi,” he said addressing a meeting on the law and order situation in the country.
