Elections will be held after Aug 2023′: Rana Tanveer

ISLAMABAD: Rana Tanveer Hussain, the federal minister for education, declared that the country’s next general elections will take place on schedule after August 2023 and praised the Election Commission of Pakistan for its announcement that the provincial assembly elections in Punjab would be postponed, calling it a move made “in the best interest of the nation.”

Speaking to media, he stated that the ECP had delayed the elections in accordance with the constitution while taking into account the security, political, and economic challenges. In addition, he stated that “the current National Assembly’s term will expire in August 2023, which will be followed by the installation of an interim administration that will conduct elections.”

He also called on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leadership to end growing polarization in the country and decide on an election date by coming together.

Minister emphasised for electoral reforms to ensure transparency in the next elections.

Replying to a question, he replied that PTI through social media had damaged the system and misled nation, adding, the agenda of PML-N government is to bring stability in the country, and put the ailing economy back on a sustainable growth path.
